Effective October 12, 2026
QuarterJar does not collect, transmit, or sell any of your personal or financial data. This page explains exactly what that means.
Everything you enter in QuarterJar — money in and out, receipts, miles, invoices, clients, your tax profile, and payment history — is stored locally on your device, inside an Apple App Group container shared only between the QuarterJar app and its Home Screen widget. None of this data is sent to any server, because QuarterJar does not operate one.
When you scan a receipt with the camera, pick a photo, or choose a file, QuarterJar reads it on your device using Apple's text recognition. QuarterJar only sees the photos and files you choose, and nothing is uploaded.
If you use the trip recorder, QuarterJar uses your location only between Start and End, to measure the distance. iOS shows a blue indicator while a trip is being recorded. Your location never leaves your device, and QuarterJar does not detect drives on its own.
Backups, invoices, and tax-time files are created only when you ask for them, and you choose where they go, for example Files or iCloud Drive. Once you send a file to someone or save it to another service, that service's privacy policy applies to that copy.
If you turn on the app lock, iOS checks your Face ID, Touch ID, or passcode. QuarterJar never sees or stores your biometric data.
QuarterJar Premium subscriptions are processed entirely by Apple through StoreKit. QuarterJar never sees or stores your payment information. See Apple's Privacy Policy for how Apple handles payment and subscription data.
If you turn on reminders, QuarterJar schedules local notifications directly on your device using Apple's notification framework. No data leaves your device to make this work.
At most once a day, QuarterJar asks Apple's App Store for the newest version number of the app, so it can tell you when an update is required. The request contains only the app's identifier, never any of your data.
"Send feedback" opens your Mail app with a draft that includes the app version, iOS version, and device model. Nothing is sent unless you send the email yourself.
QuarterJar does not include any analytics, advertising, or third-party tracking SDKs. There is nothing to opt out of, because nothing is being collected.
QuarterJar is a financial planning tool intended for self-employed adults filing U.S. taxes. It is not directed at children, and does not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13.
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this same URL with a revised effective date above.
